Entries are now being accepted for the 2013 Australian Product of the Year awards, recognising and rewarding the latest and most innovative products to hit the shelves. Now in its fourth year in Australia, the distinctive red and white logo represents the ultimate vote of consumer confidence, with the winning products selected by over 7,000 shoppers in the largest independent survey of its kind in the country.
To be eligible for entry, products must launch between January 2011 and August 2012 and be either a completely new type of product or a useful innovation to an existing product or brand, such as a new ingredient, redesigned shape or size, new formula, or new packaging.
Director of Product of the Year Australia, Sarah Connelly, said the program is a valuable marketing tool for any products that offer new and exciting benefits to consumers.
âPrevious category winners have used Product of the Year to set themselves apart second chance pay day loans from their competition with research by TNS finding 64% of consumers already aware of the awards would be likely to buy a new product that has won the award,â Sarah said.
All products entered will be judged and vetted by a jury of industry experts representing retailers, media, consumer researchers and journalists. They will determine whether entrants meet the key criteria of the program and can be submitted for judging in the 7,000-strong consumer survey by global research group TNS.
The 2012 winners were chosen from 28 categories, up from 21 the year before and 17 in 2010, including Fresh Foods, Small Appliances, Beauty, Hair Care, Pet Care, Cleaning and Adult Medicine. The 2013 categories will be finalised once entries have closed on 3 August 2012. Entries received before 6 July 2012 will receive an early bird discount if the product makes it through the jury stage.
